East Regional Coordinator - Handicap International - Colombo

Handicap International, is a French INGO specializing in the field of disability and development. A strong emphasis is placed on empowering people with disabilities through their integration into mainstream development activities and the provision of appropriate health and rehabilitation services to ensure equal opportunities for all. Handicap International (HI) has been working in Sri Lanka since mid 2005 and develops and implements projects to improve the quality of life of people with disability or injury and their families, in whatever context, promoting their active participation and social inclusion, developing partnerships at all levels, in the frame of the national policy on disability.

We are looking for an “East Regional Coordinator and a North Regional Coordinator” based in Batticaloa and Vanuniya respectively, who will be responsible for the coherence and development of the HI program implemented in these districts, in close cooperation with local and international actors.

Specific Objectives:
1. program implementation and development
2. representation of Handicap International in regards to communication and public relations with local and provincial authorities and other stakeholders
3. human resources, administration, finance and logistics- budget follow up and review, financial control and monitoring, control and respect of the HI procedures concerning logistics and human resources
4. team management- support and development
5. security coordination

Knowledge and Skills:
1. degree in international development or disability studies or project management in the relevant field
2. at least 4yrs experience within an international development organization or humanitarian organization
3. established experience in project development and mainstreaming approaches
4. experience in project cycle management, logical frameworks and donor compliance and reporting
5. excellent writing, communication and analytical skills
6. strong management skills and ability to multi task and priorities even under stressful situations
7. fluency in English, Sinhalese and Tamil
